This also includes checking the sill and adjusting the hinge jamb.

Creating a rough frame opening requires a certain level of skill and experience. Once you get the hang of it, it's quite a simple process! Typically, you ensure the rough opening is two inches wide and the height is an additional two and a half to three inches more than the actual interior door replacement. Once these little details are taken into account, the frame will be carefully mounted to the wall using wood stud anchors.

In that case, we highly recommend solid wood, which is more durable due to higher quality materials that are designed to insulate warmth and sound. On the other hand, hollow-core units are more cost-effective because they are made of inexpensive materials like thin wood layers and have a plastic or cardboard core. While beautiful, super light, and effective for privacy purposes, they do not insulate and may deteriorate faster over time. Whichever one you choose, there is a lot of room for design flexibility.
